EXCUSED ABSENCES. These are four of the conditions under which a child's absence from school may be excused:
- Personal illness.
- Illness in the family requiring temporary help from the child. (A physician's statement may be required.)
- Death in the family. (A maximum of three (3) days)
- Observance of special and recognized holidays regularly observed by persons of their faith.
Please allow teachers sufficient lead time to assemble make-up work when your child has been absent. A written statement is required for all absences whether it is excused or unexcused. Teachers are not required to give make-up work or accept late work turned in for unexcused absences. Students that are consistently absent may be reported to Juvenile Court. (The complete attendance policy will be forwarded to you separately.)
EARLY DISMISSAL
To be dismissed early, a student must bring a note from home with the time, date, and parent signature on it. This note should be shown to the teacher involved and then brought to the office. Students should not be dismissed early except for a doctor's appointment or an emergency. All students leaving school grounds must be signed out on the register in the office. NO ONE is to leave the grounds anytime without getting permission from the principal's office. Students will be released only to parents, guardians, and members of the family listed on the location card. Verification of your identity (picture identification) will be requested. We ask you to fully cooperate with us in this matter, as this is for the safety of your child.
Please note that we will not release students between 2:45 and 3:00 P.M. This is to prevent confusion at the end of the day and to provide for the safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
VISITING OTHER CHILDREN'S HOMES Students who plan to go home from school to another student's home must have a note from both sets of parents giving permission. These notes must be dated and signed by the parents. Students may not use the school phone to arrange after school plans. |
